This file is guaranteed to improve your copy of Microsoft Word 4.0!
This is actually a Microsoft Word 4.0 "settings" file which I modified to make my life easier. I hope you will like it, too.
Some of the features of "Improve Word 4.0":
- Changes the "Select All" command from the default and awkward CMD-OPT-M to the standard and predictable CMD-A.
- Relocates the "Find" and "Find Again" commands under the FILE Menu, just like System 7, for even greater consistency.
- Allows you to easily turn "Fast Save Enabled" on and off. Default is off, of course.
- Adds the "First Page Special" to the EDIT Menu. Now you can have "Open Header" as well as "Open First Header", "Open Footer" and "Open First Footer".
- Enables the "Smart Quote" option right from the EDIT menu, so that your type looks better when you use words in quotes.
- Adds the "Open Any File" to the "Open File" command under the FILE Menu.
How to use it:
1) Locate your current "Word Settings (4)" file in your System Folder and move it outside the System Folder in a safe place. (The idea is that you may not like my "improvement" so keep a copy of your current "Word Settings (4)" file by dragging it out of the System Folder).
2) Rename "Improve Word 4.0!" to "Word Settings (4)".
3) Drop my file that you just renamed "Word Settings (4)" to your System Folder.
Next time you start Microsoft Word 4.0, the new, enhanced "settings" will be on. Enjoy!
